The aim of the course is to introduce students to the fundamental principles and concepts of Biology and to provide them with knowledge and practical experience concerning living organisms and the processes of life. In addition to its intrinsic value, the course provides an important foundation for courses offered in subsequent semesters, including not only those falling within the biological sciences in the narrower or broader sense, but also other courses in which biological processes and the living world more generally play an important role.
