Aim & Scope
The Aegean Journal of Environmental Sciences (AEJES) is an open-access, free of charge e-journal published by the Department of Environment, University of the Aegean, Greece. AEJES publishes peer reviewed, original research on the study of the natural environment and on the society-nature interactions. Although AEJES prime aim is to provide a forum for postgraduate (M.Sc. and Ph.D.) students on environmental sciences programs to publish their research it also strongly welcomes contributions from established scholars/researchers in the field.

AEJES publishes full length research articles (max 8,000 words) and discourages the submission of descriptive/opinion pieces. AEJES also publishes review papers and shorter (max 4,000 words) research reports/communiqués. Suggestions for Special Issues are also welcomed. Prospective authors are encouraged to contact AEJES’ Editors-in-Chief for checking whether their manuscript meets the journal’s scope and aims.
Peer Review Statement
Aegean Journal of Environmental Sciences is a peer-reviewed journal which publishes original research contributions. All manuscript submissions are subject to initial appraisal by the Editors-in-Chief. Within 2 weeks following initial submission, author(s) will be notified whether their manuscript was deemed suitable for further consideration. Manuscripts will then be subjected to peer review by at least two independent, anonymous expert referees. A decision on the ms, based on the referees’ suggestions, will be communicated to the author(s) within 2 months following submission. All peer review is double blind.
Language
Aegean Journal of Environmental Sciences accepts contributions in English. Nevertheless, in order to enhance the dissemination of scientific knowledge to the lay public, author(s) of accepted papers will be asked to contribute, alongside their final manuscript, an extended abstract of the paper in their mother language (if other than English).
Publication Frequency
Aegean Journal of Environmental Sciences is published annually, on September of each calendar year. Nevertheless, all accepted papers will be available online through the AEJES’ website following their final acceptance.
